Klein named interim director of Westminster
Westminster Christian Academy has announced an interim new executive director.
Ron Klein started his position April 16 and will stay in it for the next 15 months.
“The school really needs a leader for that period of time and I was available,” said Klein.
Klein sold his business Belzon, an aerospace and defense firm, two months ago. He came out of retirement to temporarily fill this position.
“Like anyone on their first day, there are some things I still don’t know, but I’ll get my arms around it. I’m confident we’ll move the institution forward.”
He said his main goal for the next 15 months is isn’t to move Westminster in a new direction, but move navigate it so that the processes and procedures would be easy for the next executive director.
Carlos Bowden, school board president said Klein will provide the educational and leadership skills needed to assure a smooth transition.
“We are blessed to have a person of his caliber working with our board and leadership team,” Klein said. “Ron is well-known in the school and Huntsville community as a gifted leader, entrepreneur and educator.”
Klein is a former Army aviation career officer. He began his service as a combat airborne infantryman in Vietnam. He holds an master’s degree in economics from the University of Utah. He has taught undergraduate and graduate economics courses at five universities.
He is a graduate of both the Huntsville and the Alabama Leadership programs. He is a former member of the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce Executive Board. He envisioned, organized and executed Huntsville’s first community business management course. He currently serves on the Huntsville Committee of 100 executive board. He was WCA’s school boardpPresident from 2009 to 2011, and has been the school’s debate and rhetoric instructor since 2010.
Westminster will host a welcome reception for Ron and his wife, Sandra, Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Brockway Campus at 237 Johns Road in Huntsville. The public is invited.
Westminster has campuses in Huntsville and Madison.
