Rocket Fun Run raises $8,000

The Rocket Fun Run at Rainbow Elementary School raised $8,000 for faculty technology training, library software, playground mulch and outdoor classroom upgrades. To raise spirits before the run, several local professional and college athletes visited the campus.

Rainbow Principal Dorinda White, third from left, welcomed Huntsville Havoc hockey players and the Havoc mascot, along with athletes, cheer squad and Charger mascot from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

To uphold his promise from the run, assistant principal Michael Gunner had a pie thrown in his face on April 23. The Rainbow PTA sponsored the fun run.
