Madison actors hail Broadway musicals in ‘Showtune’

Several Madison actors/vocalists will give their respect to Broadway in Huntsville Community Chorus Association’s (HCCA) production of “Showtune.”

An off-Broadway musical revue, “Showtune” celebrates the music and lyrics of Broadway composer Jerry Herman. The show features music from “Mame,” “Hello, Dolly!” and “A Day in Hollywood.”

Micki Lighthall is directing and working with musical director Mary Ann Bishop and technical director Kaile Bishop.

Madisonians Crystal Beard, Michael Boyer, Terenna Hope Mann, Chad Miller and Cheryl Steely are in the cast.

Boyer works as a senior software engineer at Lockheed Martin. In 2011, he appeared in “1776” and was bass soloist for the “Mozart Requiem” in the tribute concert for the tenth anniversary of 9/11 attacks.

Since a teenager, Mann has performed professionally and has worked with Leann Rimes, Linda Davis and Neal McCoy. She serves as Drama Club sponsor at Columbia Elementary School. She won a Wings award as Mimi Marquez in “Rent.”

Miller is making his HCCA debut in “Showtune.” He recently relocated from Jacksonville, Ala. and has performed in numerous regional productions.

Steely, a mechanical engineer, most recently performed in Bel Canto Studio’s Broadway/opera gala, along with “Magnolia” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Beard also lives in Madison.

Other cast members are Andrew Nalley, Beverly Ketchum, Matt Hudson, Kristy Markell and John P. Thygerson.

All performances will be presented in Wesley Hall at Trinity United Methodist Church, 607 Airport Road in Huntsville.

Dinner shows will be presented on June 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 6 p.m. and June 7 at 7 p.m. Cafe matinees are scheduled for June 2 and 9 at 2 p.m. The dinner includes six-ounce ribeye, baked potato, vegetable, salad, roll, beverage and cherry cobbler a la mode. Dessert and coffee will be served at matinees.

Tickets are $30 for evening performances and $20 for matinees. For tickets, call 256-533-6606 or visit the chorus office, 3312 Long Ave. SW. For more information, visit thechorus.org.
