One dead, one injured in nightclub shooting

The Huntsville Police Investigators are investigating a shooting at a popular Huntsville nightclub.

Huntsville police were called just before 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning to the parking lot of the University Furniture store on University Drive next door to the Bench Warmer night club.  According to Huntsville Police,witnesses say a fight inside the nightclub continued into the parking lot.  Police say two people had guns and began firing into the crowd, hitting a man and a woman who were in a car.

Police say a bullet went through the back windshield of the vehicle, hitting the female passenger in the back of the head.  The male driver was shot in the leg and hand.  He started driving down University Drive towards Huntsville Hospital, but later pulled over at the Red Lobster near University Drive and Memorial Parkway.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, the man was taken to the hospital.

Police are also investigating a car crash that may be connected to the shooting.  A silver Chevrolet Impala hit a light pole on Hillview drive.  According to a witness, someone following the wrecked car stopped, picked up the driver, and left. The shooter is still on the loose.
