Fantasy Playhouse announces new season

What do a well-meaning thief, an intrepid mouse, a hopeful village and an ornery businessman have in common? They’ll all be at Fantasy Playhouse this season.

The 52nd season line up was announced July 16, and Academy Director Karen Alexander said this season has something to offer everyone.

The season opens Oct. 12 with “The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood,” about Robin Hood’s quest to aid the needy and run-ins with bad guys. “Dragon of Nitt” is a children’s fantasy play about happiness being stolen by a witch that has to be recovered and returned to the village. The popular “Stuart Little,” about a mouse living in New York City, will open in April. “A Christmas Carol” will be featured at Fantasy Playhouse for the 22nd year in a row as a season extra. All plays will have 10 performances per show.

Alexander said plays are selected two years in advance.

“We have a play reading committee that reads various scripts and takes recommendations from other people,” Alexander said. “They select several scripts to be presented to the board. This year, we’ve got quite a wide variety that I think would be of interest to all age groups, whether they are boys, girls or adults.”

Fantasy Playhouse has performed plays for the community for the past 52 years.

Below is a list of plays and performance dates and times:

-The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood- Oct. 12 – Oct. 14 and Oct. 19-Oct. 21.

-Dragon of Nitt- Feb. 15- Feb. 17 and Feb. 22- Feb. 24.
