Eugene “Gene” Morgan; Oct. 23, 2012

Eugene “Gene” Morgan, 80, of Madison, went home to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired in 1993 from the Army Aviation as Packaging and Transportability Manager. He was the original recipient of the Army Material Command Packaging Person of the Year. He also received a Presidential Letter in recognition of his outstanding service. Gene was a very active member of the Lions Club in St. Louis. He volunteered at the Space and Rocket Center and the UAH Fitness Center.

Survivors include wife, Fran Morgan; daughters, Rebecca Jean Inman (Gary) of Palm Bay, FL, Connie Kay Gambrel of Symrna, Tenn., and Terry Lynn Rogers of St. Louis, Mo.; stepson, Perry Thomas Bailey of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Melissa Koehler Roussin (Galyn) of St. Louis, Mo., Kenneth Koehler (Amme) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Casie Lee Gambrel (Ruben Ocampo) of Chicago, Ill. and Sean Rogers of St. Louis, Mo. and great-granddaughters, Haley Koehler and Piper Koehler, both of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Lucia Ocampo of Chicago, Colo.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Peterson officiating. (www.laughlinservice.com)
