James Clemens Band presents ‘Sounds of the Stadium’ on Nov. 8

“Sounds of the Stadium” will showcase the James Clemens High School Marching Band in a concert venue that’s new to Madison — possibly to North Alabama.

James Clemens Band takes the field in Hartselle.

“This concert is the first for a high school band in the area,” fundraising committee chairperson Teresa Smith said. “This concert is for all who love the raucous, energetic music of the football stadium but would like to experience it in the warmth and beauty of the new James Clemens auditorium.”

The band, drumline and color guard will perform the fans’ favorite cheer tunes, tunes played in the stands at Jets football games, half-time music and more excitement. “This is not your grandmother’s band concert,” band booster president Amy West said. “This is an extravaganza you won’t want to miss.”

For the first time, the James Clemens alma mater will be played at the concert. The school held a contest for students to submit lyrics, set to music composed by band director Keith Anderson.

Following the Sounds of the Stadium, band boosters will serve a scrumptious dessert reception. In addition, guests can bid on merchandise items in a silent auction.

In this season’s marching competitions, the Jets Band earned top ratings at the Southern Hospitality Marching Festival in Hartselle. Each unit of the Jets Band won a superior rating, which means trophies went to drum major, color guard, percussion and the entire band. The band and the drumline earned “Best in Class” and the band took the Challenge Cup.

Again repeating their superior performance, the Jets scored all superior ratings at the Tennessee Valley Invitational in Muscle Shoals. Drum major Emily Wittig won Best in Class.

Previously, Anderson was assistant band director and indoor drumline founder at Bob Jones High School. Stuart Tankesley is assistant band director and choir director at James Clemens. Kendra Harper instructs the Jets Color Guard.

Tickets to Sounds of the Stadium are $8 and available from any James Clemens Band member, at the school’s front desk or by sending email to fundraising@jcjetsband.com.
