Grace’s 2nd Chance Consignment Sales opens in Clay House

Grace’s 2nd Chance Consignment Sales has opened in Clay House at 16 Main St. in downtown Madison.

Grace's 2nd Chance Consignment Sales is open in Clay House at 16 Main St.

Owner Mandy M. Hyatt said, “Humble beginnings made me appreciate the value of what you have — re-purpose, recycle, reuse and renew.” As a mother of two, she knows “children outgrow everything at an alarming rate.” Hyatt named the shop for daughter Grace, 4, and son Chance, 15.

“The idea came to me to help other people discover the value in not only being able to consign (unneeded) items but to also purchase items they may need,” Hyatt said.

In women’s apparel, Grace’s has everything from pajamas to formal wear with new arrivals daily. “We currently have a large selection of plus-size clothing from Avenue, Torrid, Lane Bryant and other stores, along with juniors and misses,” Hyatt said.

Accessories include purses, jewelry, shoes and scarves with names like Coach, Dooney & Burke, BCBG, Jessica Simpson, Carlos Santana, Michael Koors, Gucci and Nike.

“Our children’s selection is quite extensive and every item you could possibly think of for that new or expecting mother,” Hyatt said. ” We have everyday wear, pajamas, dress and play clothes, shoes, car seats, hair bows and socks.”

Currently, she is expanding men and boy’s selections in juniors to big men’s sizes.

Grace’s 2nd Chance accepts decorating and home accessories — even small furniture. Customers will find pictures, paintings, china, candles, flower arrangements, clocks, sofa pillows and a large linen inventory with curtains, shears, shower curtains, blankets and sheets.

“We have items from JC Penney, Sears, Restoration Hardware, Pier One, Kohl’s, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Target, Beall’s, Michael’s, Garden Ridge and Hobby Lobby,” Hyatt said.

Mandy, husband Jeramiah and their children live only a couple of blocks from downtown. “I love living in Madison. It has such a small town feel but with everything a person could ask for,” she said. Grace and Chance attend Madison City Schools.

Grace’s 2nd Chance is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 256-325-3596, send email to Graces2ndChance@live.com or visit Graces2ndChance.com.
