HUNTSVILLE- There was some good and some bad for Bob Jones wrestling coach Jason Edwards after day one of the AHSAA State Wrestling Championships at the Von Braun Center Arena.

Four Bob Jones wrestlers were eliminated in the first round and consolation matches. Shane Brasher, Preston Adams, Collin Olivier, and Dominic Davis all went 0-2.

Six Bob Jones wrestlers finished the day at 1-1 and advanced to day two. They are Hasan Alrefai, Blake Rogers, Griffin Ridgeway, Chris Gomes, Levi Hickson, and Melvin Gibbons.

Three BJ wrestlers went 2-0 and are in good position to wrestle in a championship match. They are Jesse Webster, Micah Hatley, and  Alex Maxwell.

James Clemens wrestler Ryan Stenger advanced winning by a pin and a major decision. He is a favorite to make the championship match.

Colton Williams and Landon Edwards of James Clemens also advanced.

Championship matches for 6A start at 11 A.M. Saturday morning.
