MADISON – The Madison area welcomed yet another attraction for young engineers and science enthusiasts on Tuesday.

MindGear Labs, located off of Madison Blvd., held a ribbon cutting on Feb.  19 and brought out dozens to view their new facility.

Rob Adams, owner and operator said that he is excited to be a part of the technological community in the surrounding Huntsville and Madison areas.

“You know about three years ago I saw the whole idea of the whole concept,” he said. “The idea of having a woodwork and metal shop where it is all digitally controlled is something I thought I would like to do and others in this area would like to have.”

Adams added that he is glad the process of getting settled is over and is extremely happy to now helping others explore the joys of technology.

“Its been a multiyear process,” he said. “But we are finally here and we are happy to have our shop open.”

Adams, an engineer, said that though the shop is primarily engineer based, it is not strictly for engineers and prospective engineers only.

“ A lot of people think it is just geared towards engineers,” he said. “But it is really geared towards those who  anybody who can hold a mouse and design something. A lot of the labs out there are actually designed towards artists.”
Adams said he hopes to start to make his way into local schools to bring more awareness to the joys of engineering and creativity.
Also on hand for the ribbon cutting was a delegation from Hungary that came with Mayor Troy Trulock.

Ms. Eva Tetenyi, Mayor of the City of Esztergom, Hungary said that she was excited to view businesses like MindGear Labs because it reminds of the city she governs back in Hungary.

“Madison is in some ways similar to the city I am coming from,” she said. “What makes it similar that the hospitality is just like it is here. It is truly a wonderful city.”
