MADISON – Country recording artist Cristina Lynn and author Kimberly Lang have creatively blended their talents for singing and writing.

For her book “The Downfall of a Good Girl,” Lang needed songs for heroine Connor, a saint-to-rock-star singer/songwriter. Lang asked permission to use some of Lynn’s original songs in the book.

The songs are on Lynn’s CD, “Sinners and Saints,” which she kept real and true to herself, close to live performance. “‘Sinners and Saints’ shares my ‘rootsy’ and acoustic feel and has a simple, honest vibe,” Lynn said. “I’m thrilled with the finished product and cannot wait for folks to hear it.”

Lang’s “Downfall of a Good Girl” book includes Lynn’s “Whiskey & Honey,” “Service Your Heart” and the title track “Sinners and Saints.” In “The Taming of a Wild Child,” Lang used Lynn’s original wedding song, “Today” in telling Lorelei’s and Donovan’s tempestuous relationship.

“People have been interested in the creative process of a book writer and a songwriter. I’ve found similarities and differences very interesting,” Lynn said.

“It was really cool to be totally in control of the project,” Lynn said. For “Sinners and Saints,” Lynn sang, co-produced and played rhythm guitar. She worked with Greg Clements of The Construction Zone; Russ Holder; Shane Adkins; Gabriel Standard; and Richard Perigo of Sooner Photography.

Lynn and Lang met in kindergarten and “kept an eye on each other’s careers over the years,” Lang said. During this project, their friendship has grown.

They are hosting “Sing & Signs” sessions across the Southeast. “We talk about the project, play songs and sign books and CDs,” Lang said. They are accepting bookings to talk about ‘chasing their dreams’ and “living a creative life while juggling a family.”
