MADISON — Stephen Baum, president-elect of the Rotary Club of Madison, completed the three-day Rotary multi-district training session on March 24 in Nashville, TN.

Debbie Overcash said that the mandatory seminar was aimed to help Baum gain a perspective of what his duties will be.

“All Rotary Presidents-elect’s attend the mandatory President Elect Training Seminar (PETS),” she said. “Our District 6860 attends Mid-South PETS which encompasses all clubs in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky; it’s a huge training event.”

At the seminar, Baum went over the essentials of what a leader of a Rotary Club must have in order to lead effectively.

“Steve attended an intensive two-day training complete with breakout sessions addressing membership, community and  international projects, public Relations and Communications among others,” Overcash said. “There are also dynamic keynote speakers brought in to address all of the president-elects as well as district specific sessions.”

Overcash added that this seminar only added on to the fantastic leadership qualities she sees in Baum already.

“Steve is immensely prepared to lead our club in the 2013-14 year,” she said.  “He was elected as a president nominee two years ago, stepped into president-elect spot one year ago and will be installed as president in mid-June. So he’s had ‘boots on the ground’ training for president for two whole years.”

Baum’s impressive resume as a Rotary of Madison leader includes Parrots of the Caribbean chair, International Chair and team leader for the Honduras mission effort.

“He is definitely ready and we’re so excited to have him lead this fabulous community organization,” Overcash said.
