Party like it’s the Fourth of July at Dublin Park

MADISON – Hoorah for the red, white and blue. The Stars and Stripes Forever Fourth of July Celebration will fill the afternoon and evening of July 4 with fun, food and fireworks.

The City of Madison is hosting the annual event at Dublin Park, 8324 Old Madison Pike. Activities will run from 2 to 10 p.m.

At 2 p.m., the second annual Miss Stars and Stripes Forever Fourth of July Pageant will kick off festivities on Dublin’s soccer field 1 (Malcolm Field). Contestants will compete in six age groups: Baby Miss, infants to one year; Teeny Miss, 13 months to 3 years; Tiny Miss, ages 4-6; Petite Miss, age 7-9; Junior Miss, age 10-12; and Teen Miss, age 13-16.

The celebration will feature inflatable amusements around soccer field 1. Kids of all ages can zip down the giant fire engine slide, or try to tackle their way through the 70-foot obstacle course.

“When you get too hot, take a splash down the 62-foot water slide. Or, you can sit underneath the giant tent in the shade and listen to the great music provided by The Mersey Band,” Gayle Milam said. Milam works as the city’s event and volunteer coordinator.

For a cool drink or tasty snack, food vendors will be onsite from 2 to 10 p.m. All the inflated attractions are free. Tickets for games of chance are 25 cents each. Couples, friends or families can share the memory at the photo booth for $3.

Synchronized fireworks will explode at approximately 8:30 p.m. Cumulus Broadcasting and Crosshair Productions will handle the music and display. “Bring radio and tune into Journey 93.3,” Milam said.

Madison Police Department asks citizens to avoid parking along Old Madison Pike and in adjacent neighbors for safe traffic flow and access for emergency vehicles. Motorists should be cautious for pedestrian traffic near Dublin Park.

For more information, call Milam at 256-772-2557 or email to gayle.milam@madisonal.gov.
