Gene A. Davis March 3, 1936 – September 28, 2013

Gene A. Davis, 77, of Madison passed away Saturday. Command Sergeant Major Gene Autrey Davis 30 year Army Vietnam Combat Veteran. He graduated from the Sergeant Majors Academy Class 13. He was an ammunition logistician. He retired the Command Sergeant Major of the Army Missile and Munitions Center and School. He established the first Non-Commissioned Officer Academy at Redstone Arsenal. His awards included the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit and the Good Conduct Medal 10th Award.
He passed away surrounded by his family.

Survivors include wife, Loretta Davis; daughters, Kim Davis and Gwen Gipson and husband, Wayne; step-daughter, Lori Herdzik; step-sons, Craig Millers and wife, Sandy and Chris Miller; grandchildren, Cody Davis and Chance Gipson and sister, Shirley Hundly and husband, B.T.

Visitation was held on Sunday September, 29, 2013 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The memorial service immediately followed at Laughlin Chapel with David Carney and Bob Whiteford officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Center or a favorite charity of your choice.
