Jerome Thomas “Jerry” Groff, Sr. (April 6, 1934 – September 20, 2013)

Jerome “Jerry” Thomas Groff, 79, passed away at his home in Madison, AL surrounded by his family, on Friday, September 20, 2013. He was born April 6, 1934 in Buffalo, NY where he resided until 2006.

He is survived by his three children, Jerome Thomas (Sharon) Groff, Jr. of Clarence, NY, Christine (John) DiCarlo, and Rebecca (Russell) Hailey, both of Madison, AL; grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa, and Julie DiCarlo, Rachel (Joel) Paris, Sarah and Kimberly Groff, Shannon Groff and fianc√© Alex Gerould, and Matthew and Kamryn Hailey; brother, Michael (Nancy) Groff; several nieces and nephews; and countless people who loved him as ‚”Grandpa.” He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Groff.

A Memorial Mass was held in his honor on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Madison.  A reception followed in the church hall. He will be laid to rest in Clarence, NY.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ali B. Hachem and the staff at The Cancer Center of Huntsville for the exceptional care given to him during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: The Cancer Center of Huntsville Patient Assistance Fund; 201 Governors Drive; Huntsville, AL 35801. The family is being assisted by Berryhill Funeral Home.
