MADISON – Calling all marching band aficionados or anyone who likes exciting entertainment … Bands from Bob Jones High and Discovery Middle schools will perform in exhibition marching shows on Oct. 22.

The show at Madison City Schools Stadium will open at 6 p.m. with the Discovery Marching Panthers. The awarding-winning Discovery Jazz Band then will entertain.

Bob Jones’ 2013 competition show, “For Your Eyes Only,” pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of icon James Bond with theme songs from those films. The Patriots also will present this season’s halftime show. For the first time, the Patriots Marching Band will wear their new uniforms.

In addition, the crowd can experience the high-energy routines of Dance Trance Huntsville-Madison and the Bob Jones Patriettes.

“We’re all excited to showcase our groups and for each of you to see what our talented students and directors have accomplished so far this year,” a Bob Jones band spokesperson said. “Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on Oct. 22.”

Concessions will be sold. The bands encourage spectators to eat dinner, with a choice of specials for barbecue sandwiches, pizza and Chick-fil-A items.

Doyle Thornton and Leigh Thomas direct the Bob Jones bands. Monroe Murray is director of bands at Discovery.

The bands will share proceeds. For Bob Jones, funds will benefit student accounts, general booster funds and will be earmarked to defray travel expenses to the Outback Bowl in the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. on Jan. 1., 2014.

Tickets are $5. However, children who are five years old or younger will be admitted free, and elementary school students wearing school or Bob Jones spirit wear will not pay admission.

Tickets will be sold at the event, at each school and from any Bob Jones or Discovery band member. Rain date is Oct. 29. For more information, call 256-772-2547, visit bjhsband.com or email to info@DMSBands.org.
