Farmers Market focuses on Thanksgiving, holidays on Nov. 23

MADISON – Madison City Farmers Market will hold its final sale for the year on Nov. 23 with plenty of local, fall produce and several artisans offering merchandise for Christmas gifts.

Market hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1282 Hughes Road, board of directors chairperson Mary Stallings said.

Whirlwind Farms, WW Farms, Eat Wright Farm and Rositas will have garden-fresh produce. Along with vegetables, Talley Fruit Farm will sell jams, jellies and fruit pies; Blank’s Berry Farm and Martling Mountain Farm, baked goods and decorative gourds; and Green Pastures, bread, beef, jams, jellies and pickles.

Shallow Creek Farms and Free Hearts Farm will sell meats and eggs, and Free Hearts also will offer relishes and pickles. Humble Heart Farm produces goat cheese.

Mason Dixon Bakery prepares gluten-free, paleo and vegan baked goods. Faye Whitt will have jams, jellies, relishes, pickles, breads, pies and crocheted scarves and hats. Maz Farms sells vanilla extract.

Rohe Bee Ranch will bring honey. Karen’s Healthy Kitchen makes sugar-free chocolates.

For gifts, EarthShip Tie-Dye will offer hand-dyed silk scarves and T-shirts. Eddie Isbell sells houseplants, macrame bracelets and necklaces. Jo Putney creates designer aprons. Christina’s Garden Body will sell body care products.

Harvey’s Original booth will have handcrafted woodturnings, scarves and baked goods. Creative gift cards are the specialty for Sew What? by Dani. Tom Kaeding will sell handcrafted fine woodworking. Samovar Gardens has hot and cold teas.

The Old Friends Band will entertain.

For Thanksgiving dinner, shoppers can browse pumpkins, pecans, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, Jerusalem artichokes and collard greens. Other choices include peanuts, kale, green onions, turnips and greens, arugula, winter squash (acorn, Hubbard, butternut), salad mix, beets, radishes and garlic.

Other holiday merchandise will include pies, cheese balls, cutting boards, serving bowls and decorative gourds.

The market’s tables will be filled with pork, beef, and chicken; hot and cold teas (black, herbal, and fruit); pickled okra, garlic, squash and cucumber; and soap, lip balm and salve.
