Ministerial fellowship plans tribute to King

HUNTSVILLE – The Greater Huntsville Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship has scheduled an area-wide tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The “Emancipation Proclamation” will be held on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church, 1919 Brandontown Road NW in Huntsville.

Organizers encourage pastors and congregations throughout North Alabama to attend this time of worship and celebration. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service and scholarship awards will be presented at the event.

All local choirs, choruses and praise teams are welcome to participate in the Martin Luther King Area-Wide Choir. Vocalists will rehearse on Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 3509 Blue Spring Road in Huntsville and Progressive Union M. B. Church on Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m.

This year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed on Jan. 20.
