MADISON – The sixth-grade math team at Heritage Elementary School turned in an excellent performance at the Pizitz Middle School Math Tournament in February.

Heritage placed second out of 20 schools in the division II category at the tournament in Hoover.

“Additionally, out of 152 students in division II, we had two students place in the top five,” Heritage Principal Dr. Georgina Nelson said. Neil Chaudhary placed second overall. Steve Yoon placed fourth overall in individual competition.

“We had several fifth-grade students compete in the sixth-grade division this year, which was a great experience,” Nelson said. “Congratulations to all of our math team students, their sponsors, our teachers and our parent volunteers.”
