MADISON – Rotary Club of Madison will recognize individuals whose daily work ethic in their jobs for the Madison community consistently exceeds expectations.

For the past 14 years, Madison Rotarians have sponsored the Madison Employee of the Year Awards. This year’s presentations are planned for the City Council meeting in Council Chambers on May 27 at 6 p.m.

An employee will be selected from Madison Fire and Rescue Department, Madison Police Department and Madison Community Services (City Hall workers).

To qualify, candidates must have been a full-time City of Madison employee for the past two years “with continuous, above-and-beyond the call of duty performance or with one single outstanding service act for the citizens of Madison,” Rotarian and awards coordinator Debbie Overcash said.

Honoree names will be added to a perpetual plaque at City Hall. Each honoree will receive an individual plaque, four tickets to Rotary Club of Madison’s annual Parrots of the Caribbean, a monetary gift and “our entire city’s gratitude for a job very well done,” Overcash said.

Following the council meeting, Rotary will host a reception for the award winners and all visitors. Rotarian and event co-chairman Karen Morris is organizing this fellowship time.

“Rotary Club of Madison is proud to sponsor these awards that honor these fine people,” Overcash said. “We thank all of them for jobs very well done.”
