MADISON – Familiar faces in the local rock scene will entertain at the Madison Gazebo Concert on June 5.

Based in Huntsville, JED Eye will perform cover songs, covering the gamut from audience favorites by Credence Clearwater Revival and Bon Jovi to more contemporary hits from 3 Doors Down and Daughtry.

Madison Arts Council (MAC) sponsors the gazebo series on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the Village Green in historic downtown Madison “MAC is proud to have the support of Jerry Damson Automotive Group and Madison Hospital this year,” concert coordinator Laura Pope said.

Lead singer Jeff Hemphill founded JED Eye. Hemphill is a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan deployments and returned home in 2012 from a tour in Afghanistan. He decided to return to music after work commitments kept him away from the stage.

Other band members are Lisa Duncan Williams, rhythm guitar and backing vocals; Todd Aure, lead guitar; Steve Sylvester, bass guitar and backing vocals; and drummer Kevin. Hemphill also serves as general manager.

The band’s name incorporates the initials from the first names of founding members (JED) and a tribute to a former lead guitarist who is blind (Eye).

Country and blues definitely influence JED Eye’s style. Each band member has unique talents that combine in their passion for music.

When listening to music, JED Eye members like to tune to Sister Hazel, Matchbox 20, Johnny Cash, Metallica and Bad Religion — obviously a melting pot of interests.

“The public is encouraged to come out for a night of old-fashioned family fun,” Pope said. “Stretch out under the shade trees and enjoy gourmet teas, shaved ice and pizza from our vendors, or get a to-go dinner from one of the restaurants along Main Street.”
