Madison Community Band, Soundtrust to perform at gazebo on July 10

MADISON – The Madison Gazebo Concert on July 10 will feature live instrumentalists in a concert band and the energetic sounds of a rock band.

Madison Community Band and Soundtrust will entertain.

Madison Arts Council (MAC) coordinates these free music events on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Front Street in downtown Madison.

“The gazebo series has been fortune to have corporate sponsors. Jerry Damson Automotive is sponsoring the concert on July 10,” MAC President Shrail Heinrich said.

Madison Community Band is an all-volunteer organization uniting individuals of different ages and backgrounds for a common passion — musical performance. The all-volunteer band has instrumentalists from diverse backgrounds and ranging in age from middle-schoolers to senior citizens.

Founded in 1993, Madison Community Band performs annually at community festivals in Huntsville, Decatur, Guntersville and Fayetteville, Tenn. Dave Ryan is music director and conductor.

For many MCB members, the band offers a venue to continue playing live music in an ensemble setting after high school or college. For more information, visit m-c-b.org.

Also on the July 10 bill, Soundtrust is a five-piece rock band that uses electric, acoustic and bass guitars revolving around dynamic percussion. Band members are John Meshensky, bass; Gabe Larose, vocals/guitar; Nic McClure, guitar; and Richard Best, drums/percussion.

Soundtrust describes its music as having a late-1960s to early-1990s influence. Band members focus on “creating strong textures, which is way more important to us than flashy, tired guitar solos.”

MAC member Laura Pope is overseeing the gazebo concerts for her fourth year. MAC board member Heather Alvarado recruits local businesses and groups to host a children’s activity on concert night.

Sady’s Bistro will serve its popular fare, and Brain Freeze will offer ice cream treats for people and dogs. Face Painting by Marissa, along with Best Friends Forever, will entertain the youngsters.
