MADISON – The outdoor pool at Dublin Park was discovered vandalized after individuals broke into the facility’s main office early Saturday, just hours after the Stars and Stripes Forever July 4 celebration and fireworks last Friday.
Aquatics Director Kyle Parker said one of the staff lifeguards discovered the trashed pool area, which included a smashed computer and cash register.
“Basically everything that was inside was destroyed or thrown into the pool,” Parker said, noting that nothing of value was stolen, including a television.
In addition to the smashed equipment, fans, radios and an entire bucket of chlorine was tossed into the water. A thick window was smashed at the inside entrance of the pool office.
Parker said the outdoor pool was shut down for the entirety of the day Saturday as Madison police fingerprinted the area and began their investigation.
