LifeSouth announces blood drive schedule

MADISON – LifeSouth Community Blood Center has scheduled additional blood drives to recoup blood donations that historically decrease during summer.

Donors must be at least 17 year old. Sixteen-year-olds in good health can donate with parental permission, if the teen weighs 110 pounds minimum. A photo ID is also required.

Blood drives will be held at these locations:

* July 28 — Big Lots, 603 U.S. 72, Athens, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Whitesburg Shipping Center, 500 Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

* July 29 — Kmart, 104 Hwy. 31 N., Athens, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

* July 30 — Kroger, 8404 S. Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Athens on the Square, Jefferson St., Athens, noon to 6 p.m.
