MADISON – The crowd of visitors at the 2014 Business Expo and Kids Day set an all-time record this year. Madison Chamber of Commerce Day sponsors the event.

The expo, presented by Jerry Damson Honda/Acura, was held at the Hogan Family YMCA on July 26.

“More than 4,000 visitors and 65 vendors filled the YMCA to showcase their wares and services,” Janice Alex said. Alex works as events and marketing coordinator for the chamber.

Local businesses and organizations showed their services, products and wares for most of the day at the expo. The booth that won first place was Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt.

Sub Zero’s address, 12100-B County Line Road flash-freezes ice cream or yogurt with liquid nitrogen at -321 degrees F. A customer can choose from 40 flavors and 35 mix-ins and watch as their custom-made order freezes.

Cost Cutters of Madison Hair Salon, 12060 County Line Road, earned second place among the exhibitors. Third-place honors went to Alexander Martial Arts, 51 Nance Road.

KidTowne was winner of the People’s Choice voting. Located at 97 Hughes Road, Kidtowne is a drop-in childcare center with flexible schedules.

“Caroline Jackson entertained the visitors, and The Balloon Man created balloon masterpieces,” Alex said. The crowd enjoyed free hot dogs as they browsed the business’ booths.

Sparky, mascot of the Madison Fire and Rescue Department, greeted visitors and posed for photographs with the children. “Madison Police Department brought their Corvette, and HEMSI brought an ambulance,” Alex said.

Sartec search-and-rescue dogs wandered through the venue all day and visited with families. 102.1 WDRM conducted a live, remote broadcast. Youngsters enjoyed bouncing and jumping on inflatables and took advantage of face painting.
