MADISON – Downtown Madison has gained another new business with LR Beauty Salon at 105 Church St., Suite F.

“I’ve always hoped that I would open a business in Madison. This is the town I grew up in and love living in,” co-owner Rachel Bailey said. Her relatives have lived in Madison County for many generations.

Bailey and partner Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Symms feel lucky for the opportunity to open their own salon. “The location was perfect,” Bailey said.

“We really want to be the cool, eclectic salon that everyone in the family will enjoy coming to — young, old and everyone in between,” Bailey said. LR Salon abbreviates “Love N’ Rockets Salon.”

Bailey has 13 years of styling experience and Symms has 17. Nancy Cleary, a barber, has specialized in men’s hair four years.

“We also have our mascot and greeter, Fenn the Chihuahua, ready to offer his friendship to everyone walking in the door,” Bailey said.

LR Salon offers all services from a simple trim to more avant garde styles. Specializing in color, they have trained in Wella and Goldwell. Their complete service for men includes straight-razor shaves and a hot towel.

“We’re a family-friendly salon, capable of fulfilling all your family’s hair needs, including your littlest one, your funky teenager and more conservative adults,” Bailey said.

“We really love how Madison is growing. We’re very excited to be a part of that growth,” she said. “The sense of community in downtown Madison is wonderful, and everyone has been very welcoming.”

Rachel’s husband Billy manages Burger King on Hughes Road. Their six-year-old daughter Ezra will enter first grade at Mill Creek Elementary School.

Beth’s husband Jason Powell, a three-dimensional artist, is lead instructor at Virginia College.

Salon hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. LR Salon is offering a back-to-school special, $5 off first visits with the barber and 20-percent discount on color.
