Fantasy Playhouse to present ‘The Neverending Story’

HUNTSVILLE – Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater will present “The Neverending Story” at the Von Braun Center Playhouse in October.

The plot focuses on Bastian, a lonely boy who stumbles into a strange bookshop where he discovers a curious book. “The Neverending Story” is adapted for the stage by David S. Craig from the original novel by Michael Ende.

Fantasy Playhouse’s 54th season Performance Partner is Simple Helix.

The production staff includes director Lucas Kiker of Huntsville, costume and conceptual designer Heather Baumbach of Madison, puppet designer Ethan Mitchell of Athens and producer L. Enitza Gillespie of Huntsville.

Performance dates are October 10-19. Performances times are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 1:30 and 5 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15. For information, call 256-539-6829 or visit fantasyplayhouse.com.

In addition, two reduced-cost student matinees will be presented for local public, private and home-school students on Oct. 16 at 9 a.m. and noon. Tickets are $5 each; teachers are admitted free.
