MADISON – Jen Fouts-Detulleo with JFD Photography & Design enjoys her sessions for newborn babies, as well as youngsters and families.

“Once my babies were born, I couldn’t stop taking pictures,” Detulleo said. “After moving 20-plus times in 15 years with my husband’s hockey career, Madison was the first place I could actually put down roots and start my business.”

Detulleo accepted an invitation from fellow photographer and friend Sarah Brewer with Click Photo Designs to share studio space at 101 Church St.

“It seemed like the perfect fit,” Detulleo said about downtown Madison where she frequently schedules photo sessions.

She offers Madison and themed mini-sessions, popular for updating family photos. Currently, she is booking fall mini-sessions at Hayes Nature Preserve.

“I’m a bit biased, but images of my children are always my favorite,” Detulleo said. She is proud of images of daughter Berlin, 6, with her bunny; a close-up of Ebba at around 18 months (now eight years); and son Benham, 3, with his hockey stick at the rink. Ebba and Berlin attend Madison Elementary School.

Detulleo currently is assisting photographers with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, a volunteer organization that takes remembrance photos of parents with a newborn who passed away. She has applied to join the group, which accepts volunteers.

“My best friend lost her daughter at an early gestation. By helping these other families, I’m honoring her as well,” Detulleo said.

A hospital’s staff explains the service to parents. “If they want portraits, the hospital will call our coordinator (for) an available photographer,” she said.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is free, “offering priceless images for these parents (at) such a difficult time. It feels good to know we can capture images they’ll treasure for years to come,” Detulleo said.

A native of Woodbine, Iowa, she earned a bachelor’s degree in interior design at Iowa State University. Her husband Glenn is head coach of the Huntsville Havoc Hockey.
