McCord wins livestock exhibition award

MADISON – Zachary McCord of New Market won the first-place exhibition award at the Alabama National Fair Youth Beef Show.

Youth from across the state participated in the annual show held in Montgomery on Oct. 11. The top five individuals in the 17-year-old showmanship class were McCord, Madison County, first place; Carter St. John, St. Clair County, second; Reid McGuire, Lee County, third; Joseph Adams, Bullock County, fourth; and Jaycie Simpson, Randolph County, fifth.

The Alabama National Fair included other events in exhibiting sheep, goat, beef and dairy animals. Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance sponsor the fair’s youth livestock shows.
