MADISON – Paintings of the nativity, Santa Claus and winter wonderlands appear on Christmas Card Lane, sponsored by Madison Arts Council.

At 17 Front St., “Big Al Santa” by Connie Broadway-Lougheed is a comical depiction of the Crimson Tide’s Big Al. Nadiya Smyrnova, a Madison Academy junior from Ukraine, painted “My Christmas” with a church in snowy woods. In Lisa Riccardi’s “The Messenger” at 23 Front St., an angel heralds Christ’s birth.

Lou Ann Lanier created “Noel” with elegant Christmas ornaments at 25 Front St. On the Village Green, the whimsical “O’ Mustache Trees” is Jena Salvetti’s design, and Crystal McBrayer painted “Sweet Shop” in tribute to Whistle Stop Sweet Shop. Jackie Wilson’s dramatic “Glitter Angel” stands at Church and Front streets.

At 114 Church St., Gerald Clark painted “Letter to Santa,” a snowy landscape focused on a farmhouse’s mailbox. “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” by Dee Dee Vaughn at 205 Church St. shows a penguin’s snowy stroll. At 301 Church St., Everett Carter Sr. painted a boy “Sneaking a Peek” of Santa Claus.

At 302 Church St., “Abstract Manger” by Carolyn Dodson-Grimm portrays the Wise Men’s visit. Sally Batson created “A Child Is Born” in a manger of ‘re-purposed’ materials at 305 Church St.

At 306 Church St., Teresa Batchelor’s “Looking Out’ poignantly remembers their family dog. Denise Onwere created a snowball fight at 309 Church St. May Myer hopes for “Peace on Earth” during a cat-and-dog fight at 310 Church St. At 311 Church St., “Wise Men Still Seek Him” by Misty Merschat reverently shows the Bethlehem trek.

At 312 Church St., Ashley Bates painted “Season Greetings” with Santa in his sleigh. Connie Blackwell’s “Home for Christmas” has a Currier & Ives feel at 315 Church St. Sandy Sparks’ “Christmas Carolers” sing by a twinkling street lamp at 316 Church St.

“Merry Madison” by Ange Long, Katie Pruden and Grace Palenapa shows Madison schools and churches. At 318 Church St., “Christmas in Madison” by Noel and Laura Newquist symbolically captures the community’s spirit.
