HARVEST – Runners and walkers of all levels and speeds, and especially children and their families, can participate in the inaugural Hug-A-Cub Valentine’s Day 5K and Fun Run.

“The 3.1-mile course for the 5K will take you through the beautiful Magnolia Springs subdivision,” race director Lisa Novak said. “The Fun Run will take place on Endeavor Elementary School property, 1997 Old Railroad Bed Road in Harvest.”

“Come and join us on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, for Madison County’s only Valentine’s Day 5K,” Novak said. The 5K run is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., with the free Fun Run to follow at 9:15 a.m.

“The Hug-A-Cub Valentine’s Day 5K offers a unique racing opportunity for its participants. You may choose to register as an individual and be eligible for overall and age group awards, or you can race as a couple and be eligible for a separate overall couple’s category,” Novak said.

Novak underscored the uniqueness of the opportunity for couples’ racing. “It’s Valentine’s Day … who wouldn’t want the opportunity to race with his or her sweetie, child or best friend?” she said.

Registration fee for individual entries is $25 until Jan. 31 and will increase to $30 from Feb 1-14. Registration for couples is $40 until Jan. 31 and will increase to $45 from Feb. 1-14.

No registration fee is required for the Fun Run. To access registration forms, visit http://hugacub5k.bestwd.com/.

“Did we mention that there would be chocolate?” Novak said.

Door prizes will include two give-aways for a 10-person birthday party to Shakalaka or free bagels for a year from Panera Bread. Unique awards will be presented.

“Come and join us in support of the students of Endeavor Elementary School There will be free food, and an overall great time awaits all,” she said.

Endeavor PTA will use all race proceeds to enhance security for Endeavor’s 700-plus students.
