MADISON – The Optimist Club Madison will host its Optimist Junior Golf Tournament on May 9 at Sunset Landing Golf Course, adjacent to Huntsville International Airport.

The tournament will start at 8 a.m. Boys from 16 to 18 years old are eligible, and girls who are 15 to 17 years old can enter, Optimist Richard Cooper said.

Registration deadline is May 2. Registration fee is $37, which includes greens fees and one bucket of range balls.

“Parents of each winner will receive a prize check of $200 to go towards the entry fee and travel costs for the Optimist district tournament in Montgomery on June 9-10,” Cooper said. “Winners at the district level who qualify will participate in the national tournament in Orlando, Fla.”

The district tournament in Montgomery is open to anyone who registers and attends. Participants’ parents will be responsible for the $120 entry fee and any additional travel-related expenses. Registration deadline for district is May 31.

The tournament sponsor is Sunset Landing at 346 James Record Road in Huntsville. For more information, call 256-464-5050 or 256-464-9975 or visit Facebook/Optimist Club of Madison AL.
