MADISON COUNTY – The American Red Cross and Sport Clips Haircuts are teaming up to offer blood donors a unique incentive during the “Saving Lives Never Looked So Good” campaign.

During September, donors will receive a coupon for a free haircut for giving blood or platelets.

“We’re pleased to partner with Sport Clips Haircuts in September nationwide. Through their generosity, we’ll … thank our amazing volunteer blood donors for their lifesaving gift to help patients in need,” Red Cross Director of National Partnerships Donna M. Morrissey said.

Donors will receive a coupon by email a few days after their donation. “The coupon is valid through Nov. 8. Donors must have a valid email address on record to receive the coupon,” Red Cross External Communications Manager Tiffany Taylor said.

“A sufficient blood supply is a community-wide responsibility, and Sport Clips is proud to continue our partnership with the Red Cross to raise awareness of the need for blood and platelet donations,” Sport Clips communications manager Margaret Briscoe said.

Red Cross needs donations of all blood types, but especially types O negative, A negative and B negative. Platelet donors are urged to give. To schedule a donation, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), visit redcrossblood.org/sport-clips or download the Red Cross Blood Donor App.

Madison County Blood Donation Center at 1101 Washington St. in Huntsville has several donation times scheduled: Sept. 1, noon to 7 p.m.; Sept. 3-6, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sept. 7, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sept. 8, noon to 7 p.m.; Sept. 10-13, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sept. 14-15, noon to 7 p.m.

Donors must present a blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification at check-in.

American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters and supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood. For more information, visit redcross.org or Twitter @RedCross.
