HUNTSVILLE- Bob Jones got all the scoring they would need in the first quarter and coasted to a 37-0 win over Grissom.

Both teams battled a strong north wind. A steady rain started to fall in the second quarter. By halftime it was a monsoon. The game was delayed an hour for lightning in the third quarter. The teams returned to finish the game but no one scored after the delay.

Bob Jones opened the scoring on with a twenty yard touchdown pass from Brady Polson to Brad Anderson. Grissom then gave away a touchdown when the punter fumbled the snap in his end zone and Drew Styles picked it up for a touchdown.

Bob Jones scored next on a one play drive when Miles Strickland raced 85 yards and Matthew Stephenson added the extra point for a 21-0 lead. Stephenson then had the highlight of the night, kicking with the wind he booted a 45-yard field goal to make the score 24-0.

Bob Jones scored in the final seconds of the first half as Junior Comara had a one yard touchdown run for a 31-0 halftime lead.

Bob Jones built the lead to 37-0 on another Comara touchdown run before a lightening strike sent the players racing for cover with 6:15 left in the third quarter.

Th teams waited out the delay and finished off the game with mostly reserves for Bob Jones holding Grissom out of the end zone.

The win means Bob Jones stays on top in Class 7A, Area 4. James Clemens is now solid in second place with a win over Gadsden City.
