Carter likes basketball’s hoops, football’s gridiron

Athlete of the Week

MADISON – Corey Carter’s favorite sport is flag football, which involves high-energy plays but no tackles that can cause serious injury.

“He likes this sport so much because he likes to run the ball,” his father Corey Carter Sr. said. Corey Jr. is a member of the Falcons flag football team. He plays the positions of quarterback, wide receiver and running back.

In addition, Corey enjoys the game of basketball. He plays for the Volcanoes basketball team. Most often, he handles the job of point guard and small forward. The Volcanoes are one of the teams that plays under the auspices of the Basketball Association of Madison.

Corey is in second grade at Heritage Elementary School. Corey Carter Sr. and Quan Carter are his parents.

Q: If you go out to eat, what is a place that you like to eat?

A: Corey likes the chicken and other foods at Zaxby’s.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

Corey would never turn down a chance for Papa John’s pizza.

7. What are your favorite sports teams?

His favorite teams are the Carolina Panthers, Auburn Tigers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

8. What’s your favorite sports memory?

“A memory from flag football, where I ran down the sideline, ‘juked’ a few defensive players and scored the touchdown!” Corey said.

9. What do you like to do in your free time?

He likes to play video games on the Wii and Sony Playstation.
