MADISON – Troy Trulock has announced his campaign for re-election as mayor of Madison.

“As your mayor since 2012, I have been proud to serve you in our rapidly growing community. I would like to announce my re-election campaign 2016 to continue serving you as your mayor,” Trulock said in his press release.

“What an honor it is to serve you as your mayor. I love this city,” he said. Trulock cited his experience as a combat veteran and a career Army officer in learning discipline, leadership and service to both country and community.

“We recently opened up over 1,500 acres of new development that will provide thousands of new jobs and increased revenue for our city and our schools in the future,” he said. Fiscal Year 2015 for Madison ended with “the highest revenues in the past eight years.” He also takes pride in Standards and Poor’s AA+ rating for Madison.

Improvements to quality of life during his term have included the County Line Road/I-565 interchange, widening of Old Madison Pike “thanks to teamwork with Huntsville’s leadership” and other widening and resurfacing of primary and neighborhood roads, he said.

Other enhancements are new and connected greenways and construction of a 10-mile walking path along County Line Road.

“I am humbled by a recent poll by an independent organization that showed 78 percent supported my reelection and about that many also felt that our city is headed in the right direction,” Trulock said.

Teamwork “has never been stronger” with Madison City Schools, Redstone Arsenal, Department of Defense, NASA, Madison County Commissioners and regional, state and federal officials, he said.

“That outstanding teamwork and partnership is helping all of us grow strong as a team,” Trulock said.
