HUNTSVILLE – The thrill of live comedy and drama returns with the 2015-2016 season of Broadway Theatre League.

On Nov. 17, “Clifford the Big Red Dog” will use laughter, songs and dance to convey the concepts of fairness, respect, responsibility, honesty, kindness and friendship. Two shows will be presented.

“Bullets Over Broadway” on Nov. 20-22 is based on Woody Allen’s screenplay about a young playwright who desperately needs financial backing. A mobster suggests an offer he can’t refuse.

The first show in 2016, “The Producers” won a record-setting 12 Tony Awards. The plot follows a scheming producer and his accountant trying to produce Broadway’s biggest flop. Mel Brooks authored the show in the 1960s. Show dates are Jan. 8-10, 2016.

“Beauty and the Beast” on Jan. 29-31 is based on Disney’s award-winning animated feature. This performance will be the last chance to see the musical because the show will be retired at the end of the season.

Another ‘retiring’ show, “Mamma Mia!” combines the greatest hits of ABBA with an enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship. Many critics and fans alike describe “Mamma Mia!” as “the ultimate feel-good show.” Shows will be performed on Feb. 19-21.

“Blue Man Group” on March 4-6 is best known for its wildly popular theatrical shows and concerts that combine music, comedy and multimedia theatrics. Each show has a party atmosphere.

Another children’s production, “Hot Peas ‘N Butter” on March 8 is a favorite from Nickelodeon/Noggin TV. “The Los Angeles Times” praised the show for its “hot and mellow multi-cultural groove” that brings fans to their feet.

On April 29-May 1, “The Illusionists” showcases the jaw-dropping talents of the most incredible illusionists on earth. Full of hilarious magic tricks, death-defying stunts and acts of breathtaking wonder, “The Illusionists” promises to dazzle audiences of all ages.

Jerry Damson Automotive Group is season sponsor.

Tickets start at $38 for adults and $18 for 17-year-olds and younger. For tickets, call 256-518-6155; visit the league office or Von Braun Center box office; or call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
