Police investigate robberies, ID theft
MADISON – Officers with Madison Police Department are investigating two robberies and a case of identity theft.
Around 4 a.m. on Nov. 8, police responded to a call of suspicious activity in the Oakland Road area. A resident reported a car door ajar and a suspicious male walking nearby. Madison officers located three males in the area. Two males were sitting in a car, which the police determined as stolen from Huntsville.
Further investigation revealed three vehicles in the area that had been unlawfully entered and some items stolen from the vehicles. Three male juveniles from Huntsville were arrested and charged with three counts of breaking and entering an automobile, two counts of theft of property and one count of receiving stolen property.
One of the juveniles was in possession of a handgun, later determined as stolen from Huntsville and was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and receiving stolen property. Police transported the juveniles to Neaves-Davis Juvenile Detention Center.
On Nov. 14 around 8:30 p.m., police units responded to the scene of a robbery at Subway restaurant at 10971 County Line Road. Officers are investigating the robbery.
On Nov. 16, police charged a woman who runs a house-cleaning business with trafficking stolen identities. Leslie Martin, 33, of Toney was charged with trafficking in stolen identities. During a theft of property investigation, Madison Police determined that Martin was in possession of identifying information from at least 10 individuals.
This information included social security numbers, credit card information and bank account information. An arrest warrant for trafficking in stolen identities was served on Martin on Nov. 16 while she was in the Madison County Jail on unrelated charges.
Madison police also have pending charges on Martin for theft of property, 2nd degree. She is accused of stealing a firearm from a home in Limestone County while cleaning the home. Martin operates the business, Leslie’s Cleaning Service.
