MADISON – The James Clemens Jets women’s and men’s basketball teams won big in their games against the East. Limestone Indians on Dec. 7 at home.

The lady Jets stomped the Indians 44-26, and the men handed out an equally big stomping when they won their game 66-47.

The women had a rocky start in the first half as they hit the locker room tied with E. Limestone 21-21. Points were hard to come by for the Jets as they missed shots, but they controlled the court with quick passes and a faster game than E. Limestone’s ladies. Fouls by the home team also kept the ladies from E. Limestone alive, but the Jets came out on top in the second half.

Regan Williams (12) was the leading scorer for the game landing 14 points, followed by Camryn Samuel (30) who racked up 11 points during the game.

The James Clemens men had an interesting, ever-changing game on Dec. 7. Although they won, head coach Danny Petty still sees room for improvement in his Jets.

“We’re not perfect,” said Petty. “We’ve just got to keep on and work on our fundamentals and take our game plan and put it in affect out on the court.”

Throughout the game, the men did well getting and keeping possession of the ball. In the first quarter, they did well finishing shots inside the lane, but the Jaguars caught on to this method and forced them out of the key where they weren’t knocking down shots. Fast breakaways kept the Jets in the game, and Zach Hancock (25) landed a pretty three-point shot as the buzzer signaled the end of the first half.

Fans saw a slower second half for both men’s teams with a plethora of fouls awarded to James Clemens and not as much ball movement, but they were able to catch more leather on net in the second half.

Coach Petty made interesting substitutions throughout the game, taking all five players off the court at a time and letting players that don’t get in the game head onto the hard wood.

“The good part about the game is we got everybody in, we got to play everybody and that’s always good,” said Petty.

Marcus Lacey (23) led the team in points on Dec. 7 with 14 of the team’s 66 points, two from a dunk. Bradley Belt (5) and Jarquez Lawson (12) both got nine points apiece with another dunk from Belt.
