MADISON – Blake Heisey has transitioned his understanding of video games into a full-time business for himself.

“Currently, I’m doing YouTube full time. I am currently massing 1.5 million views per month,” he said. Heisey, 18, graduated from James Clemens High School in 2015.

“Basically, I turned playing video games and making videos into a full-time job,” Heisey said. “I’ve been making content since 2008 and learning new things everyday. School never really taught me anything.”

His online moniker is ‘Incredilag.’ To view most of Heisey’s work, visit YouTube.com/Incredilag.

“I never really liked the idea of settling for a job when there were so many things I could do on my own,” he said. In 2012, “I started my YouTube thing full time, which turned into my writing my own book, starting up my own company, as well as signing various brand deals throughout this industry.”

The majority of Heisey’s online content concentrates of playing video games. “Most of the time, it’s whatever happens in the game … that is what I act upon. There are rare cases where I write a script for a skit,” he said.

Heisey uses a Canon G7X to record his daily ‘vlogs’ (video blogs). He uses an elgato HD60 for recording his game play.

“The main obstacle for me in making content and turning YouTube into my career was pushing myself,” Heisey said. “I have never been one to work hard, and, when I really started disciplining myself, I saw results.”

“Also, there are a lot of rough patches you go through in making content. I believe if you want to do it, nothing will stop you,” Heisey said.

His greatest reward has been meeting all of the people watching his videos. “My videos are seen by millions every month. When I travel to events, I get to meet some of these fans. I’m almost at 100,000 subscribers on my channel,” he said.
