James signs with Southern University

MADISON – Aubrion ‘Aubri’ James has the distinction as the first four-year scholarship signee in softball for James Clemens High School.

James, a senior at James Clemens, will attend Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, La.

“We have a very talented team and will do special this year, so come out and support your Lady Jets,” she said. On the Jets varsity softball team, James plays outfield and pitcher. She transferred from Bob Jones High School in her junior year.

James’ 2015 stats are .259 batting average, .308 on-base percentage, 18 RBI, 9 wins, 72 strikeouts and 1.382 ERA.

“In the fall, the softball team at James Clemens goes to help disabled people play softball,” James said. She also participates with Peer Helpers at school.

Her coaches at James Clemens are Aaron James and A.J. Daugherty.

Aubri’s parents are Anthony and Erica James. Her brother Tyson James graduated from Bob Jones High School and is a sophomore at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Q: What restaurants do you like in Madison?

A: “I like to go to Applebee’s after big games for football, basketball and softball,” Aubri said.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Pizza is always her first choice.

Q: What are your favorite sports teams?

A: The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football and softball teams. “Roll Tide, baby,” Aubri said.

Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?

A: She likes to remember “when Laurlin Chaffin hit a homerun against Grissom in regionals to give us the lead. It just got everybody so hyped.”

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: “I like to watch Netflix, draw, do makeup or practice hitting (in softball),” Aubri said.
