MADISON – For the fourth year, the Junior Leaders Club at Mill Creek Elementary School completed their “Sweet Treats for Sweet Hearts” project.

These Mill Creek students decorated and stuffed 60 Valentine’s Day bags with greeting cards and candy for babies’ families in Huntsville Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

“The Valentine bags were placed at the bedsides of the babies for the parents and siblings to enjoy,” Mill Creek Instructional Partner Tosha Swearingen said. “This year, we actually got to take a field trip to the hospital.”

At the hospital, students hosted a “Sibling Craft Hour” with craft activities, games, cookies and cocoa. “It was a very memorable trip,” Swearingen said.
