MADISON – David and Ann Hogan continue to perpetuate the legacy of their sons, Craig and Steven Hogan.

David and Ann Hogan presented a statue of sons Craig and Steven to Hogan Family YMCA in Madison. The Hogan brothers lost their lives in a plane crash at Huntsville International Airport in January 2005.

Relatives from Alabama, Florida and Georgia and friends were among 60 people attending the private unveiling for the bronze statue on Feb. 12 at Hogan Family YMCA. The statue was placed in the foyer under Craig and Steven’s photographs.

John Hamilton, family friend and former Taos partner, presided at the ceremony. Taos is David Hogan’s former company and 35 former employees also attended, along with family friend Andy Johnson.

Ginger Harper, board chairman of Heart of the Valley YMCA, welcomed guests to the ceremony. President/CEO Jerry Courtney accepted the statue on behalf of the organization. Hogan Family YMCA officials at the unveiling were board chair Scott Harbour and executive director Daniel Kasambira and staff.

“The statue represents Craig and Steven when they were boys,” Kasambira said. “They were not only brothers but great friends who loved to have fun, as shared by the friends and family in attendance.”

The statue depicts the brothers when they about 10 years old.

Kasambira described the unveiling as “an emotional experience. I personally have three sons and one daughter. When I see the legacy that Craig and Steven Hogan left, it inspires me to be a better husband, father and servant leader on a daily basis.”

“We have over 12,000 members at Hogan YMCA of all ages, races, ethnicities and religions. Each person will have an opportunity upon entering the foyer area to see and experience the generosity of the Hogan family,” Kasambira said.

Hogan Family YMCA’s address is 130 Park Square Lane in Madison. For more information, visit ymcahuntsville.org.
