MADISON – The City of Madison will recognize the upcoming Easter holiday with three separate egg hunts at Dublin Park.

On March 19, the “Special Needs Eggstravaganza” will open with registration at 9:30 a.m. with activities underway at 10 a.m. The city, Madison Adaptive Sports Program and Madison City Disability Advocacy Board are partnering for the event.

The Eggstravaganza will be held regardless of weather. In case of rain, activities will be moved indoors. “The event is open to anyone from the special needs population,” Gayle Milam said. Milam works as Event and Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Madison.

To pre-register for Special Needs Eggstravaganza, visit madisonadaptivesportsprogram.org.

The “Glow-in-the-Dark Flashlight Egg Hunt” on March 25 in Dublin Park’s soccer field no. 1 is open to six- through 12-year-olds. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. The hunt will start at dusk.

“In the event of rain, eggs will be hidden inside Dublin’s gym. Children will need to bring a flashlight and a container to collect eggs,” Milam said.

On March 26, the city and Daystar Church of Madison will sponsor the “Easter Eggstravaganza” at Dublin from 9 a.m. to noon on soccer fields 1 and 2.

A helicopter will be used “to drop more than 20,000 eggs from the sky, in addition to more than 20,000 eggs on the field,” Milam said. Soccer field no. 2 will be lined with inflatable games, snacks and activities.

Dublin Park will be open only to handicap parking for the Easter Eggstravaganza. Other visitors should park in Bob Jones High School’s south lot and ride shuttle buses to Dublin.

Shuttles will run from 8:30 to 11 a.m. After the egg hunt, shuttle service will resume from Dublin to Bob Jones’ campus.

“For safety and security reasons, wristbands will be required for participation in the inflatable area,” Milam said. “Wristbands will only be distributed to children at the registration table. The Easter Bunny and Friends will be there, too.”

Pre-registration for Easter Eggstravaganza closes at 5 p.m. on March 25. To pre-register, visit daystarchurch.tv/madisoneggdrop.

This year, Easter is March 27.
