Davis deployed to Afghanistan with Embedded Training Team

MADISON – Major Mark Davis served in the Alabama Army National Guard for 14 years and the U.S. Army Reserve for seven years.

He entered military service in 1985. Davis completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. He then entered Officer Candidate School (OCS) at the Alabama Military Academy at Fort McClellan, Ala. He finished the Officer Basic Course (OBC) at Fort Lee, Va.

Davis was deployed to Afghanistan as a member of an Embedded Training Team with the 1st Brigade 201 Corps.

He achieved the rank of Major before leaving active duty. After his deployments, Davis retired from the 3rd Brigade, 108 Division of U.S. Army Reserve.

Davis moved to Madison in 1992 when he accepted a position with Huntsville City Schools. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Samford University in Birmingham. Davis holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He is married to Cindy V. Davis, who works as the District At-Risk Counselor/Grant Administrator for Madison City Schools. The Davises have two daughters. Carissa is a senior at Samford University. Briana is a freshman at the University of North Alabama in Florence.

Davis has retired from the education field and Army Reserve. He serves as an usher at Asbury United Methodist Church in Madison.
