Softball equates to cooperation for Beasley

MADISON – Mary Elizabeth Beasley believes that softball is a game that teaches an individual how to work together with others.

At Bob Jones High School, Beasley has played the positions of first base, pitcher, catcher and second base for the Lady Patriots.

“Softball is an opportunity to work hard in a competitive environment while maintaining good sportsmanship and teamwork,” Beasley said. She is a senior at Bob Jones.

In other campus interests, Beasley has served as Student Ambassador and Peer Helper. She participates in National Honor Society, Beta Club, National English Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Her parents are Brett and Kim Beasley. He is president and owner of Optical Sciences Corporation. Kim Beasley works as administrative assistant at CrossPointe Church.

Mary Elizabeth’s siblings are Lawson and Jackson Beasley, who both are students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Mary Elizabeth really likes the chicken nuggets at Chick-fil-A.

Q: What restaurants do you like?

A: Chick-fil-A and Panera Bread.

Q: What is your favorite sports team?

A: Alabama Crimson Tide football and Florida Gators softball.

Q: What is your favorite sports memory?

A: Mary Elizabeth always will remember her “first varsity game experience in seventh grade during a regional tournament game playing first base.”

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: She spends time with her family, goes to the lake, plays music and sings.

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: Mary Elizabeth plans to major in secondary education at either the University of Alabama in Huntsville or the University of North Alabama.
