MADISON- Bob Jones will end the school year without naming a new softball or girl’s soccer coach.

The girl’s soccer job came open in April when Tony Schroeder stepped down after three seasons. After a trip to the AHSAA Soccer Championships in 2015, the girl’s team fell back to under .500 this year finishing 11-12 and and first-round exit in the playoffs.

The softball opening has been known since Feb. when long-time coach Kent Chambers announced this would be his last as coach. It has been advertised and resumes and applications have been received. There is speculation that interviews would start next week after the state Softball Championship Tournament concludes.

“We are well underway with our softball coach search and with our soccer coach search as well,” Bob Jones Principal Sylvia Lambert said Friday. “We will try to get through this process as quickly as we can but we want to be as thorough as we can. We want the community to know we will be patient enough to get the right person for the job.”

Lambert has a few weeks until play dates and summer workouts for all sports start the first full week in June.

The Patriot softball camp is scheduled for June 6-8 and Chambers is still listed as the POC for that. That camp is for the community and is open to kids ages first grade through ninth grade.

The Lady Patriot Soccer Camp is scheduled for June 20-24 and is open to first through twelfth grades. Schroeder is listed as the POC on the brochure but that could change. Anyone interested is asked to email bjhsgirlscoach@gmail.com.

Graduation is Monday May 23 at 7 p.m. and the last day of school is Wednesday May 25.
