MADISON – In a reversal of command, dogs will be in control for the fifth annual Art 4 Paws Pet Adoption and Art Festival on May 28.

Scheduled at Dublin Park, Art 4 Paws will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Madison Arts Council (MAC) sponsors the event.

“We’re excited to bring this event back to Madison and are committed to making it an even bigger and more successful than previous years,” event coordinator and MAC President Tina Clark said.

In conjunction with this year’s Art 4 Paws, the 2nd Annual Madison Disc Dog Days will be underway simultaneously at Dublin. Madison Parks and Recreation Department coordinates Disc Dog Days.

“We’re partnering to make two events into one, big citywide event,” Clark said. “MAC will bring together art and ‘arfs’ for a family fun day that’s free to the community. Disc Dog Days will have professional trainers and their dogs performing high-flying tricks, competing for state champion and to qualify for a world championship competition.

At Art 4 Paws, the Amateur Dog Show at 2 p.m. promises to entertain the audience. Owners can enter their dog(s) to walk the show ring for judging.

The dog show will offer tongue-in-cheek categories, like “Smallest,” “Largest,” “Cutest,” “Best Trick,” “Best Dressed” and “Best in Show.” Dogs available for adoption will be featured in the special “Top Dog” segment.

Local shelters and rescue groups will attend and showcase “their animals in need of a ‘fur-ever’ home,” Clark said. For anyone considering “adding a canine or feline to the family, Art 4 Paws is the perfect event to find a new addition.”

“Talented artists and creators of crafts from across North Alabama will be on hand with their arts and crafts to promote some pet-friendly pieces and some people-friendly pieces,” she said.

With the help of sponsors, MAC will setup an area just for kids. “MAC hopes to have the largest kid’s area ever for all ages to enjoy,” Clark said.

Art 4 Paws will be held rain or shine. For more information, email to art4paws@artsmadison.org or visit artsmadison.org.
