MADISON – Tommy Overcash is seeking another term to represent District 5 on Madison City Council.

Overcash believes his “proven experience, leadership, hard work and longtime dedication to our community are the keys to continuing the huge strides made in responding to Madison’s needs.”

“The four main areas to Madison’s continued improvement remain: upgraded roads and infrastructure, quality of life enhancements, retail development and structured residential growth,” Overcash said. “I have been an essential part of the team and have helped provide the leadership to accomplish the progress already made in these areas.”

After the municipal election, at least three council seats will have new representatives. “Experience in city government is of the utmost importance. I commit to continue working diligently to lead our city forward with strategic plans to make Madison an even more progressive community. Many road and infrastructure projects have been completed, but there are still plenty to address.”

Overcash cited Madison Hospital, Fire Station #2, James Clemens High School and major renovations to Bob Jones High School as a few projects that he has supported while on City Council.

“Our city’s retail base has really taken off with the opening of the Target shopping center and developments along Highway 72; our city is poised to realize improved sales tax revenue with the new Town Madison and the redeveloped Intergraph properties,” Overcash said.

“My long term vision for Madison is that it will always be a thriving community where people want to work, live and raise their families,” Overcash said.

Overcash was first elected in 2004 and has served as Council President six times. Currently, he serves on boards for North Alabama Gas District, Huntsville/Madison County Public Library, Madison Police Foundation and City of Madison’s Human Resource Committee.

Previously, Overcash has served on Industrial Development Board, Planning Commission and Tennessee Valley BRAC Committee.

“I am very enthusiastic about continuing to serve Madison as Councilman for District 5 and feel that my proven experience, leadership and devotion demonstrates that I am the best possible candidate to continue to represent the residents of District 5, as well as our city as a whole,” Overcash said.
