HUNTSVILLE – Drum Corps International (DCI) will perform in Huntsville as part of its 2016 summer tour.

Making its stop for North Alabama, the DCI show on July 15 will start at 7 p.m. in Louis Crews Stadium on the campus of Alabama A&M University, 4200 Memorial Parkway NE.

U.S. Army Bands are presenting the marching exhibition in Huntsville. The highly anticipated series of competitive events will visit cities and towns throughout the country while featuring more ensembles and individual performers than ever.

DCI bills itself as “Marching Music’s Major League.”

The first corps to march at Alabama A&M will be Southern Knights of Birmingham. Southwind from Mobile will follow. The Louisiana Stars of Lafayette and the Music City drum & bugle corps from Nashville will perform next.

Legends from Kalamazoo, Mich. also will march. Other corps on the program are Jersey Surf of Camden County, N.J.; Spirit of Atlanta; Crossmen of San Antonio, Texas; Boston Crusaders from Boston, Mass.; The Cadets of Allentown, Pa.; and Bluecoats of Canton, Ohio.

Since its founding in 1972, DCI has furthered its mission to promote and inspire unparalleled excellence in music and performing arts throughout the world. Each year, the organization delivers entertainment and education to hundreds of thousands through live performances.

In addition, music and marching enthusiasts can view corps’ shows at select movie theatres across the United States.

The 54-day 2016 DCI tour includes 113 shows in 39 states, where 39 drum corps will vie for this year’s World Championship titles in Open and World Class divisions.

The tour opened on June 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The tour will return to Florida in July for the first time since 2012. DCI World Championships Week will culminate in Indianapolis on Aug. 13. To review the full schedule, visit dci.org/schedule.

Advance tickets for the Huntsville exhibition are $30. Groups of 20 or more will receive a $10 discount. On event day, prices increase by $5 in all sections and do not reflect additional processing fees. To buy tickets, call 317.275.1212 or visit dci.org and click “Tickets.”
